Time to live a little differently.

A morning choosing what is fresh. A quiet afternoon with nowhere to be. An evening walk that becomes a conversation. A dinner that begins as the day cools. These are the rhythms we return to in Italy, and the ones we make room for in our journeys.

Al mercato

Shopping
for the day.

A morning stop for ripe tomatoes, a handful of peaches, or whatever looks especially good. We like to begin with what is fresh and in season, ask the grocer what they recommend, and let the day's meal take shape from there.

Choosing a little at a time brings its own pleasures: a familiar face behind the counter, a suggestion for dinner, and something delicious to carry home.

Il riposo

The afternoon
can wait.

After lunch, the streets grow quieter. Shutters close, the sun warms the stone, and the day leaves room for a pause. With a book, a nap or a little shade, there is pleasure in letting the afternoon unfold gently.

We leave space for this, too. Rest belongs in a journey as much as discovery does.

La passeggiata

A walk.
A familiar face.

Arm in arm, we take the long way through town. We stop to greet someone, linger in the piazza, and find that a short walk has become an evening of its own.

Passeggiata is one of our favorite ways to feel part of a place. We are out among people, with time to notice who and what is around us.

L’aperitivo

A pause
before dinner.

As the afternoon gives way to evening, we find a table and order a drink. It could be a glass of wine, your favorite cocktail, or a lemon soda. They bring us a few bites to share, just enough to open the palate.

We make room for aperitivo on our journeys. It is a chance to settle in together and let the evening begin at its own pace.

Late dinners

An evening
at the table.

As the heat softens and the light begins to change, we settle in for dinner. There is time for another story, something delicious to share, and a little more conversation before anyone thinks of leaving.

We love these later evenings, when a meal becomes the place we want to stay.
