A landscape with roots.
Molise unfolds through the things we do slowly. We follow a truffle hunter and their dog through the woods, watch lace take shape by hand, and listen to the story behind a bell. Walking the old tratturi brings us into the open landscape, along grassy paths shaped by generations of seasonal migration.
In the mountains, a family carries on the art of cheesemaking, passed down through generations. We watch the hands that stretch and shape the curd. We listen to the stories shared as they work. We enjoy the simple pleasure of tasting cheese where it is made.
There are the deep red peppers of a kitchen at work, food prepared with patience, and a glass of Tintilia, Molise’s distinctive red wine. Around the table, conversation carries on easy like the hospitality of the Molisani.

The shape of the journey
Seven nights in Molise. One countryside home. Time to become acquainted.
- Day 01
A gentle arrival
We meet in Rome and pause for a countryside lunch in Lazio before continuing to Molise. Time to unpack, settle in and take in our surroundings, followed by an aperitivo and our first dinner together.
- Day 02
At the table
An unhurried introduction to cucina molisana brings the warmth of local peppers, a taste of pampanella and Tintilia shared with the people who make it. Back at our country house, we make cavatelli together and gather around the table.
- Day 03
Threads of belonging
A morning of market discoveries and traditional lacework, with time to watch skilled hands and try something unfamiliar. Family connections lead us inland for lunch and a gentle walk along an old tratturo, following the grassy paths of a pastoral life.
- Day 04
The Adriatic, unhurried
A slow wander through coastal lanes opens onto the sea. Lunch celebrates the Adriatic, followed by an afternoon for swimming, reading beneath an umbrella or simply watching the water.
- Day 05
The work of generations
Copper, bells and cheese bring us into the company of makers. We encounter traditions carried forward through families, from the shaping of metal to mountain cheesemaking, with time to hear their stories and taste what patient work produces.
- Day 06
A tradition shared
We plan to join the Sfilata dei Misteri, when the streets fill with an extraordinary procession and a community’s anticipation. After the energy of the celebration, we return to the countryside for a quiet afternoon.
- Day 07
What the woods reveal
Another thread of our family’s story brings us into the mountain landscape. We follow a local truffle hunter and their dog through the woods, then gather for a long meal celebrating summer truffles. A final evening together leaves time to reflect on the week.
- Day 08
Until we return
One last breakfast before our journey back to Rome. We leave with new acquaintances, shared memories and a more personal sense of Molise.
An early glimpse of our planned 2028 journey. The sequence and individual experiences will be refined following our research trip, with festival participation subject to the confirmed program.
